Dharmsinh Desai Institute of Technology (DDIT), now known as the Dharmsinh Desai University, was established in the year 1968. In the year of 2000, the Institute was accorded with the status of Deemed University by Govt. of India. In April 2005, the Government of Gujarat declared this Institution as a State University. The University is a member of The Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The University is recognized but not funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Today the University offers large number of undergraduate & postgraduate courses in Engineering & Management; besides offering doctoral programmes. It also conducts the bachelor level degree courses in Dental Science, Pharmacy & Commerce.
The University has a Placement Cell. The Cell undertakes various activities aimed at students, entrepreneurship awareness & development programmes. Placement cell invites reputed companies to conduct campus interviews for the purpose of recruitment.
The R & D Center of the University undertakes real life IT based projects from various research related sectors, and provides technical solutions to their problems. Beside, the University has an Environment Cell, Industrial Facilitation Center, and a Structural Design Center.
