Gujarat University is the oldest and biggest university in the state of Gujarat. It was established on 23rd November, 1949. Going by the figures taken in the year 2005-06, Gujarat University has 215 affiliated colleges and in all, 2, 27,812 students appeared in its March/April 2004 Examination. Today GU is one of the most preferred universities among students for professional courses Gujarat University is engaged in various Post Graduate Programmes at the University Departments apart from the regular Courses taught in the pure subjects. These programmes are interdisciplinary in nature and take care of not only the present needs of the students but also the job prospects at the regional and national level.
